Pirojpur: Police arrested a young man in a case filed over the rape of a schoolgirl at Khanakuniari village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

Ziaul Haq, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Aivan Molla, son of Aual Molla of the village, in association with his friend Maruf swooped on the victim’s house in absence of her parents and took the girl to an orchard near her house around 8:30 pm on Tuesday night, reports the UNB.

Aivan violated the girl, a class-VIII student of a local school, after tying her hands and mouth, while Masud was standing there as a guard, said the OC.

The girl was sent to Sadar Hospital for treatment and her father filed a case with Sadar Police Station in this connection.

Later in the night, police arrested Maruf, son of Mintu Molla of the village for his alleged involvement in the incident in the night.

Aivan, a drug addict, went into hiding after the incident, said OC.
