Dhaka: Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam on Sunday directed its officials to identify risky school buildings and ensure stern punishment of those responsible for irregularities during construction of PK Government Primary School in Barguna.

The collapsed school building will be also reconstructed, said the minister while responding to reporters at the Secretariat, reports the UNB. 

A third-grader was killed and five others injured as a portion of ceiling of PK Government Primary School in Betagi Upazila collapsed on them on Saturday.

Expressing sorrow, Tajul said the on-duty officials of Local Government Engineering Department have been assigned to identify the responsible people and also to bring them to books. 

Besides, direction has been given to take actions to identify risky school buildings and reconstruct those.
