PM directed for sending burned Feni girl to Singapore, says Doctor
Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed for sending Feni madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi, who was fighting for her life at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after being set on fire, to Singapore for better treatment, said a physician on Monday, reports the UNB.
Director of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Prof Md Abul Kalam on Monday said Rafi’s medical documents were sent to a Singapore hospital for their opinions about sending her there. ‘We’re yet to receive any feedback from them,’ he said in the evening.
Meanwhile, the madrasa girl has been put on life support as her condition deteriorated further.
On Saturday, Rafi was set afire allegedly by students loyal to Principal Sirajuddoula of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa in Sonagazi upazila of Feni. She suffered 80 percent burns.
Her elder brother Mahmudul Hasan filed a case with Sonagazi Police Station on Monday afternoon accusing four people and their accomplices, said its officer-in-charge Moazzem Hossain.
Police have so far arrested seven people—Mostafa Kamal, Nurul Amin, Ashraf, Saiful, Arif, Jasim and Alauddin – over the incident.
The madrasa principal was arrested on March 17 and subsequently suspended after the victim accused him of sexually harassing her.
