SI suspended over Habiganj 4-kid murder

Habiganj: A policeman of Bahubal Model Police Station has been suspended for negligence of duty over the killing of four children.
Police super Joydeb Kumar Bhadra took the action on Sunday against sub-inspector Ziaur Rahman following recommendations of a three-member probe committee formed earlier with additional police super M Shahidul Islam as its head.
The probe panel also suggested taking necessary action against officer-in-charge (investigation) of the police station Abdur Rahman.
The committee found that Abdur Rahman did not record any general after the victims’ family members went to the police station on the night of February 12 when the four children went missing from Sundrateki village.
Although a GD was recorded the following day, the sub-inspector did not take proper step in this regard.
Informed by locals, police recovered the bodies of Zakaria Ahmed Shuvo, 8, son of Wahid Miah, his two cousins—Tajel Miah, 10, son of Abdul Aziz, Monir Miah, 7, son of Abdal Miah—and Ismail Hossain, 10, son of Abdul Quadir, from under the ground from Sundrateki village on February 17.
On February 18, the police super formed three-member probe committee to investigate whether there was any negligence on the part of police.
