Faridpur: A two-and-half-year-old girl is now undergoing treatment at the one-stop crisis centre of Faridpur Medical College Hospital after she was reportedly raped by a young man at Ambikapur in Sadar upazila on Monday, reports the UNB.

Quoting victim’s family members and locals, police said Mintu Sheikh, 20, a human-hauler driver of the village, took the girl to a bamboo bush in the afternoon and violated her there.

Hearing the victim’s screams, locals rescued her and later took her to the hospital. 

Meanwhile, Mintu went into hiding.

AFM Nasim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said no complaint was lodged over the incident. ‘Action will be taken against Minto once a formal complaint is lodged.’
