595 outlaws surrender in Pabna
Pabna: A total of 595 members of several outlawed parties along with their arms and ammunition surrendered to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan here on Tuesday with a hope to return to the normal life.
They turned up at a function at the Shaheed Amin Uddin Stadium in the district town in the afternoon, reports the UNB.
During the surrender, the outlawed party men also submitted 68 firearms and 575 country-made weapons.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Javed Patwary was present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the home minister urged those who are yet to surrender to take the opportunity and return to the normal life.
He also said some 2,000 members of different outlawed parties surrendered in 1999 during the tenure of the Awami League government.
Later, the minister handed over cheques for financial assistance to the leaders of the outlawed parties, including Purbo Banglar Communist Party (ML-Lal Pataka), Janajuddha, Sarbahara, Kadamati Party and Naskal.
