Dhaka: A man allegedly strangled his wife to death and then set fire to her body to divert the incident in the city’s Mugda area on Wednesday.

Police arrested the suspect, Komol Hossain, from the spot soon after the incident, reports the UNB.

The victim was identified as Hashi Begum, 27, daughter of Altaf of Parbatipur upazila in Dinajpur district.

Officer-in-Charge of Mugda Police Station Proloy Kumar Saha said Komol murdered his wife at their residence in Bank Colony of South Moghda around 8am. Then he set afire her body to mislead the investigators.

After being informed, a team of Mugda police recovered the body and arrested Komol.

During preliminary interrogation, Komol admitted that he killed his wife due to family feud, he said.

Both Komol and Hashi were previously married and have a daughter and son respectively in their previous families.

Victim’s father Altaf filed a case with the police station accusing Komol.
