Singer Mila narrates the story of domestic violence against her

Dhaka: Country’s popular pop singer Mila has opened up over the domestic violence against her by her husband and members of in-law’s house.
In a Facebook post Mila wrote, ‘My mother-in-law dragged me out of the bathroom after breaking open the door on my husband’s direction when no cloths were on my body and carried out domestic violence against me indiscriminately.’
Earlier, the husband of Mila has been arrested over domestic violence. Police nabbed Pervez Sanjary, pilot of a private airline company, after the singer filed a complaint, Uttara west police OC Ali Hossain Khan said.
Police have sought the court's permission to interrogate Sanjary for five days in custody. The singer accused her husband in a case under the Child and Women Repression Act, saying he tortured her and broke one of her arms.
Mila’s father rescued her and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). The couple tied the knot on May 12 after a decade-long affair. Their relationship reportedly went downhill after scandals involving Sanjary surfaced.
Mila’s father has claimed that his son-in-law used to torture his daughter for dowry. DMCH One Stop Crisis Centre coordinator Bilkis Begum confirmed that the singer had indeed been tortured.
‘Burning marks of cigarette butts and signs of torture have been found all over Mila’s body,’ she said.
