Rajshahi: Police arrested a man from Laxmipur Bhatapara area in the city on Friday evening for reportedly violating his step daughter.

The arrestee is Mahfuzur Raham is a rickshaw puller by profession, reports the UNB.

Nuruzzaman Tuku, a councillor of word no. 6, said Mahfuzur had been raping the girl for long. When Mahfuzur tried to violate the girl again in the evening, locals surrounded the house. At one stage, when he tried to flee the scene, locals caught him.

On information, police reached the spot arrested him, said Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station.
