Dhaka: A suspected criminal was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Detective Branch (DB) in capital’s Khilgaon area early on Tuesday.

The deceased, who was in his early thirties, could not be identified immediately.

Police said a gang of criminals opened fire on a patrol team of DB when the team reached in front of Khidmah Hospital in the area at about 3:45am, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate, that triggered a gunfight.

The gunfight left the alleged criminal bullet injured.

The Khilgaon police rescued him from the spot and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at about 4:15am, said Mominul Islam, sub-inspector of the police station.
