Gopalganj: A schoolgirl was hit and ran over by a bus at Beltala bus stop on the Gopalganj-Baspur road under Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was Samia, 8, a student of Class III of Kashiani Shisu Nekatan and daughter of Aminur Rahman of Khayerhat village of the upazila.

Police said the accident occurred when a bus ran over Samia in the area at about 8:00am while she was crossing the road. She died on the spot.
