PM doesn’t speak ‘decent language’: Khaleda Zia

Dhaka: Apparently reacting to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s remarks about her and her son, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday night said the Prime Minister does not speak in decent language.

‘Hasina neither behaves politely nor speaks in decent language. She uses not only indecent words, but also offensive ones which I think are shameful and insulting for all,’ she said.

Khaleda came up with the remarks while exchanging greetings with leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal at her Gulshan office, marking the International Women’s Day, reports UNB.

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina described the re-election of Khaleda Zia as BNP chairperson and Tarique Rahman as its senior vice chairman as a stage-managed drama and said now two accused are the top leaders of the party.

On Sunday, Khaleda Zia was re-elected BNP chairperson unopposed, while her son Tarique Rahman elected the party’s senior vice chairman also unchallenged before the party’s national council session.

The BNP chief said the country’s people feel insulted as Sheikh Hasina grabbed the post of the Prime Minister with force.

‘They—be it Hasina or Awami League—don’t know how to behave well. They possess no decent word. How will those who have no polite words in their mouth behave courteously with people?’ she questioned.

Greeting the country’s women on the occasion of the women’s day, Khaleda alleged that their party was not allowed to hold a programme even on this day.

The BNP chief said: ‘The government has kept the country besieged. The country can’t run for a long without democracy.’

Referring to the assault on women at Dhaka University during Pahela Baishakh celebration last year, the BNP chief said the incident took place as there is no democracy in the country.

She alleged that the country’s women are now not safe anywhere - be it house, office, roads or workplace.

‘They’ve no security. Women are being frequently tortured and harassed by the ruling party men and police in rural areas. Even, the kids are being killed. It’s a matter of shame and insult.’
