Savar: A fire that broke out at a garment waste warehouse zone in Unique area of Ashulia has been brought under control.

Eleven fire-fighting units doused the blaze at about 7:45am after three hours of frantic efforts.

Dhaka Exprot Processing Zone (DEPZ) fire station senior officer Abdul Hamid said the fire originated from a garment waste zone beside GSM Apparels in Unique area. The fire soon engulfed nearby warehouses and workers colony.

Abdul Hamid said two units of Tongi fire station, two of Dhamrai fire station and four units of Savar fire station worked with DEPZ fire station to bring the blaze under control.

Primarily it has been known that 27 garment waste warehouses were gutted by fire.  

The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately, said the senior officer.
