Awami League likely to change its council date: Hanif
Dhaka: Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif on Wednesday said the date of triennial national council of the party can be changed.
‘It was initially discussed that the scheduled national council date of Awami League on March 28 can be changed. Final decision would be taken in the next central working committee meeting,’ BSS quoting him as saying.
The Awami League leader told newsmen emerging from a joint-meeting of the party at Awami League president’s political office at Dhanmondi, prior to the Union Parishad polls.
‘Leaders-workers of Awami League and pro-Liberation War people from all over the country will join the party council. Whereas, all leaders and workers will be busy as the union council election is going to be held under party banners for the first time this year. Taking into account these matters, date of party council can be changed,’ Hanif said.
AL leaders Dr Dipu Moni, Organising Secretary Ahmad Hossain and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap were present on the occasion.
