Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid on Thursday urged members of Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission (BJSC) to ensure transparency and accountability in every step of examination so that meritorious and capable candidates can join the judicial service.

He made the call when a BJSC delegation, led by its Chairman Justice Hasan Foez Siddique of the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division, submitted its annual report for 2018 to him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon, the UNB reported.

The BJSC team apprised the President of overall activities of the Commission and the synopsis of the report, said President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin.

The President expressed satisfaction over the BJSC activities and assured of providing necessary support for its smooth functioning.

He also called for taking proper measures to take the examination regularly to recommend judges.

The BJSC Chairman informed the President of vacant posts of judges in different positions of the different courts.

He also highlighted different activities of the Commission and informed the President that a total of 143 assistant judges were recommended for appointment through the 11th Bangladesh Judicial Service (BJS) examination in 2018.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present during the meeting.
