Dhaka: Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Tuesday withdrew a ban on three food items after retesting the samples.

The items are – ACI salt, Doodles noodles of New Zealand Dairy and turmeric powder of Pran.

BSTI Deputy Director Riazul Haque said they suspended licences of 52 products and issued show-cause notices.

“We received responses from 43 products who claimed to have improved their standards.”

The licences of nine others were cancelled. ACI salt, Doodles noodles of New Zealand Dairy and turmeric powder of Pran later passed the standard test,” he said.

On May 12, the High Court asked the BSTI to immediately remove 52 food items of various brands that failed quality tests.

The 52 substandard products include Teer mustard oil of City Oil, Green Bleaching, Shobnom, Ruchanda soya bean of Bangladesh Edible Oil Ltd, chips of Kashem Food; drinking water of Ara Food, Duncan, Deeghi; vermicelli of Pran, Well Food, Mishtimela, Modhubon, Mithai, Amrita, Jedda, Kiron; turmeric powder of Danish, Fresh, Dolphin, Manjil; Molla Salt, Dada Super, Madhumati, Medina, Noor; soft drink powder of Shanto Food, Jahangir; curry powder of Danish, Pran; chili powder of Dolphin, Hathazari; ghee of Baghbari Special, Banalata, Shurjo.
