Savar: Five people were killed in separate road accidents at Ashulia in Savar in the early hours of Wednesday.

Two of the deceased are Shafikul Islam, a resident of Pindarhat village of Jamalpur sadar thana, and Abbas, a resident of Maitajani.

Ashulia police officer-in-charge Mostofa Kamal said two men were killed on the spot as a truck head-on collided with a cattle-laden truck on Bipile-Abdullahpur road at Tongabari area of Ashulia at about 4:30am. An injured was killed on his way to the hospital and another man died undergoing treatment at Enam Medical College and Hospital in Savar.

In another accident a bi-cycle rider was killed after run over by a truck at Unique area on Bipile-Abdullahpur road. The deceased could not be identified immediately.
