Rajshahi mayor Bulbul sent to jail
Rajshahi: The sacked Rajshahi city mayor Mosaddeque Hossain Bulbul has been sent to jail in connection with four pending cases relating to subversive activities.
After a long time of his hiding, Bulbul surrendered before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) seeking bail through his lawyers around 12.30pm. CMM Mijanur Rahman heard both the sides and sent him to jail after rejecting his bail petition, reported BSS.
Earlier on March 7 , the CMM court issued arrest warrant against Bulbul for creating obstacle against government work during the anti-government movement waged by the BNP-led 20-party in 2012. Simultaneously, the court framed charges against 22 BNP leaders and workers including Bulbul and city unit general secretary advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon.
The court sources told the cases were lodged with Boalia Model Police Station in April on charge of hindering the works of law enforcers in Rajshahi.
