Benapole: A Jessore court on Monday convicted a woman and her brother-in-law and sentenced them to death for killing her husband in 2014.

The court also fined the convicts—Shabana Khatun, wife of the deceased Abdur Razzak of Ajmatpur village in Chaugachha upazila of Jessore and her brother-in-law Abdul Ali—Tk 50,000 each.

According to the prosecution, Shabana Khatun along with her brother-in-law Abdul Ali killed her husband Abdur Razzak on 9 March 2014 as he protested her extramarital relationship with the brother-in-law.

Mintu Miah, brother of the deceased, filed a case with Chaugachha Police Station the following day.

Police submitted charge sheet against Shabana and Abdul Ali on 9 June 2014.

After examining the records and witnesses, Judge Sharif Hossain of Jessore Additional Sessions Judge’s Court, handed down the verdict.
