Benapole: Police arrested three people, including a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, in possession with 13 Molotov cocktails from Jhumjhumpur area in Jessore district town in the early hours of Thursday.

The arrestees is Sabbir Husain Babul, a leader of Fatehpur union unit Jamaat , also a resident of Baliadanga in Sadar upazila, and Sumon alias Putu, and Kawsar, both residents of the same area.

Sadar police camp in-charge sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam said on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested the trio while a group of criminals they belonged to was staying in the area to carry out subversive activities at about 1:30am.

However, their other associates managed to flee the scene.

Later, the law enforcers conducted a raid on the house of Babul and recovered 13 Molotov cocktails.

A case was filed in this connection.
