Court orders reinvestigation into Siddhirganj schoolboy murder

Narayanganj: The Detective Branch asked to reinvestigate a case filed against Nur Hossain, prime suspect of Seven Murder in Narayanganj, and six others in connection with killing of a schoolboy at Siddhirganj of the district in 2006.
Narayanganj Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar Datta passed the order after a hearing on the plea against the investigation report that was recently submitted by the Siddhirganj Police Station.
The other accused in the case are Rafiqul Islam Ratan, Aminul, Rustom Ali, Zakir and Sundar Ali Zaman.
According to the case statement, Nur Hossain’s accomplices demanded Tk 5 lakh as toll from Kazi Akter Hossain, a businessman of Uttar Azibpur in the upazila, on 20 August 2006.
As the amount was not given as demanded, the extortionists called out the businessman’s son Kazi Tipu Sultan Mohiuddin, who was a class V student of Adarsha Kindergarten, around the Ambar Paper Mill ground in the same area around 1pm on September 16 and strangulated him to death.
Later, the accused dropped the body of Mohiuddin in the Sitalakkha River.
Around 3:00pm on the day, his body was recovered from the river. However, the Siddhirganj police refused to accept any case in this connection at that time.
As Nur Hossain and his accomplices went into hiding after the Narayanganj seven-murder incident on 27 April 2014, the Akter Hossain filed a case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in connection with the killing of his son on May 20.
The court took cognisance of the complaint and asked the officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station to launch an investigation in this connection.
The investigation report was submitted by Sidhirganj Police Station a few days back, but the plaintiff of the case filed a complaint against the report.
