Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party senior leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Thursday said their party’s anti-government movement turned unsuccessful for the failures of its top leaders, not activists.

‘Our party activists have no failure in our previous movement as they participated in it spontaneously. We the top leaders are responsible for the failure. As we’re big leaders, so big our failures are in the movement,’ he said.

Gayeshwar, a BNP standing committee member, came up with the remarks while unveiling the cover of a video-song album on BNP’s council, made by Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas), at the party’s Nayapaltan central office.

The BNP leader asked his party colleagues to publicise the aim of their March-19 council and the party’s ideals among people instead of carrying out personal publicity centring on the council. ‘Many leaders are conducting personal publicity on the eve of the council. Please, refrain from it and carry out campaign for the party.’

‘We have to reflect in our council what we are thinking about restoring democracy in the country. Leaders and activists from across the country are eagerly waiting to see the outcome of the council. We must reflect their hopes and aspirations in it,’ Gayeshwar told his party men.
