Arms recovery in Ctg: charges pressed against 28 persons
Chittagong: Rapid Action Battalion on Sunday submitted charge sheet against 28 people, including lawyer Shakila Farzana, in a case filed in connection with arms recovery from Latmoni Hill at Banshkhali in Chittagong on 21 February 2015.
Assistant director of RAB-7 ASP Ruhul Amin, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet before the court of Banshkhali Senior Judicial Magistrate Hakim Sazzad.
Among the accused, 21 are now in jail while 41 people have been made witnesses in the case, said RAB-7 captain Lieutenant Colonel Mifta Uddin.
Lawyer Hasanuzzaman Liton, advocate Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon and leader of Hamza Brigade Maniruzzaman Don are among the accused.
On 21 February 2015, RAB unearthed a secret training camp of Islamist organisation Shaheed Hamza Brigade and arrested five suspected militants from Lotmoni. The RAB members also recovered huge arms from the camp.
Later, RAB deputy assistant director Golam Rabbani filed a case in this connection on 23 February.
On 18 August 2015, RAB members arrested three lawyers, including Supreme Court (SC) lawyers Shakila, Hasanuzzaman Liton and advocate Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon, on charge of financing militant outfit Sahed Hamza Brigade (SHB) from Dhanmondi area in Dhaka.
