Fakhrul, Khoka among 24 BNP-Jamaat men face arrest warrant
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Monday issued warrants for the arrest of 24 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami in an explosive case filed with Ramna Police Station in 2013.
Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammad Quamrul Hossain Molla passed the order after taking cognisance of the chargesheet against 37 BNP-Jamaat men, including BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in the case.
Of the 24 warranted accused, ten, including Jamaat acting secretary general Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and its assistant secretary general Shafiqul Islam Masud remained absconding while 14 others, including BNP leader Sadek Hossain Khoka, were not present before the court on Monday.
However, BNP leader Mirza Abbas, Amanullah Aman, Barkatullah Bulu, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Salahuddin Ahmed secured bail from the court in the case.
On November 30, 2013, a man was killed and four others were injured when a group of miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus of ‘Suprobhat’ at Malibagh Chowdhury Para during the 18-party alliance’s blockade programme.
Sub-inspector Zahidul Islam of Ramna Police Station, filed a case in this connection.
On August 17, 2015, DB sub-inspector Depak Kumar Das submitted chargesheet against the 37 BNP-Jamaat men in the case.
