Noakhali: Two men were shot to death as miscreants opened fire near Maijdee old college over establishing supremacy at Shantinagar in Maijdee upazila of Noakhali on Monday night.

The deceased are Rajib and Wasim, both were students of Noakhlia College.

Two others also received bullets during the firing. The injured, Raju and Yasin, were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The Noakhali Sadar police officer-in-charge Anwar Hossain said a rival group led by a Shaju made an attack on Rajib and three others when they came out of a shop in Maijdee at about 8:00pm. The supporters of Shaju opened fire to them and left Rajib dead on the spot.

However, Raju, Yasin and Wasim also received bullets and were taken to Noakhali General Hospital.

They were shifted to DMCH as their condition deteriorated. Wasim died on his way to Dhaka.

The OC said he shooting was the result of a rivalry between Rajib and his friends and members of Shaju’s gang over establishing their supremacy in the Shantinagar area.
