Brahmanbaria:  Six BNP candidates for unions of Banchharampur upazila in Brahmanbaria have pulled out of the race alleging massive vote rigging, fraud, and irregularities.

The announcement came at an emergency press briefing at former lawmaker of Banchharampur SA Khaleque’s residence at about 11:30am on Tuesday.

The six candidates are, Billal Hossain of Salimabad union, Abdur Razzak of Tejkhali, Delwar Hossain of Rupsdi, Mohammad Salauddin of Fakirabad, Fazlul Haque of Manikganj, and Abdul Karim of Daridakandi union.

SA Khaleque claimed Awami League activists took preparation for stuffing of ballot boxes with fake votes cast on ballot papers on Monday night according to the party’s lawmaker AB Tajul Islam’s order.

Ruling party’s activists forcibly took control of the polling stations and cast fake votes for their favourite chairman candidates, said the BNP nominees.
