Tejgaon OC, 2 SIs among 11 charged with torture
Dhaka: A case was filed on Wednesday against 11 people, including the officer-in-charge (OC) of Tejgaon Police Station and two sub-inspectors, on charge of harassing a businessman.
Victim Badal Hawladar, 42, a catering service businessman, filed the case with the Metropolitan Session’s Judge Court.
Judge Quamrul Hossain Mollah asked the plaintiff to undergo a medical check-up at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and submit the report before the court.
The accused in the case are OC Abdur Rashid, SIs Abul Kalam Azad and Jahangir Hossain, Dhaka North City Corporation councillor Shafiullah Shafi, Mashiur Rahman, Minhazur Rahman, Hossain Khan, Faruk Ahmed, Nurunnabi and Mainuddin.
According to the case statement, Badal Hawladar runs a decoration house named ‘Arko Decoration’ near the new gate of FDC in Tejgaon area in Dhaka on lease.
However, the accused in collusion with each other threatened Badal to remove his establishment from the place. The shop owner lodged a complaint against the accused with Dhaka Executive Magistrate Court on February 1.
Following the complaint, the court asked OC Abdur Rashid to submit a report after investigation.
On March 13, Abul Kalam Azad and the sub-inspectors picked up Badal and threatened him over the issue.
On March 14, Badal was again taken to the police station where the OC and SIs took his signature in a white paper forcibly which frightened him, Badal said.
