Dhaka: Detectives in three separate drives in the city from Thursday night to early Friday recovered around 30,200 pieces of yaba tablets and arrested eight alleged drug dealers.

A special team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a drive in Shahbagh area at around 1:35am and arrested two drug dealers, indentified as Abul Bashar and Rezaul Karim.

The detectives also recovered 26,000 piexes Yaba tablets from their possessions, reported UNB.

In another drive, another DB team carried out an anti-drug drive in Paltan area at around 11:35pm on Thursday.

During the drive, they arrested two suspected drug paddlers, identified as Ferdous Arafat Shaon and Jahidul Hassan along with 200 pieces of yaba tablets.

Another DB team conducted a drive in the city’s New Market area at around 12:30am and arrested suspected illegal drug trader Al Amin.

The detectives also recovered 4,000 pieces Yaba tablets from his possession.

Separate cases were filed with concerned police stations in connection with the incidents.
