Krishnakali’s husband sent to judicial custody over domestic help’s death
Dhaka: A court on Sunday sent singer Krishnakali’s husband M Khaliqur Rahman Orko to judicial custody in connection with the death of their domestic help at their Taltola residence in Dhaka, reported UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar Gui passed the order when sub-inspector of Sher-e-Banglanagar police Shushil Chandra Barman produced him before the court on expiry of his two-day remand period.
Earlier, the SI also filed a petition to the court for keeping the accused in jail as they did not get the post-mortem report.
The court also rejected the bail plea filed by Orko’s lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua.
On Thursday, a Dhaka court ordered a two-day quizzing of M Khaliqur Rahman Orko in connection with the incident.
Jannat Akter Shilpi, a domestic help of Krishnakali’s house, was found hanging in a room of her Taltola Mollapara residence on Wednesday.
She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors announced her dead. Duty officer of DMCH police camp detained Orko and then informed Sher-e-Banglanagar police.
A general diary was registered with the police station in this connection. He was shown arrested under section 54.
