A case was filed in connection with the killing of a minor boy in a clash at a polling centre in Madhurchar of Keraniganj upazila on Thursday (31 March) morning during the second phase union parishad elections.

Salal Kazi, uncle of the deceased, filed the case against an unspecified number of people with Keraniganj Model Police Station, said officer-in-charge of the police station Ferdous Hossain.

Shuva, 10, son of Halim of Dhalikandi village of the upazila, was killed receiving stray bullets in a clash at Madhurchar Govt Primary School polling centre in Madhurchar on Thursday morning during the UP elections.

OC Ferdous Hossain said a group of BNP supporters and another of Awami League locked in a clash over capturing the polling station at about 10:20am.

Some Jubo League and Chhatra League activists opened fire during the clash while one of the bullets hit Shuva, leaving him injured.

Later, he died on way to hospital, the OC added.

Some 10-12 people were also injured during the clash.

The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
