Dhaka: A muazzin was stabbed to death inside a mosque in Islampur area of Dhaka early on Monday.

The deceased is Billal Hossain, aged around 55, muazzjin of Jabbar Khan Jam-e-Masjid. He had been living in a room of the 3-storey mosque.

The Kotowali police officer-in-charge Abul Hasan said local people discovered his body in a pool of blood on the stairs of the mosque at about 5:00am and called police.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
