Sunamganj: Five persons on Thursday were sentenced to death for murdering a person at Sundar Pahari Kalikapur village of Tahipur upazila in Sunamganj in 2006.

The convicts are Mohammad Abdur Rahim, Mohorom Ali, Ershad Ali, Julhas Miah and Emran Miah. Among them, the last three are siblings.

According to the prosecution, the convicts stabbed and killed Arju Miah, a resident of the same village, over a dispute on 15 November 2006.

Victim’s son Nazrul Islam filed a murder case against 11 people.

Sunamganj Additional Sessions Judge Pronoy Kumar Das handed down the verdict.
