Barguna: A tribunal here on Thursday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for raping a minor girl in Patharghata upazila in 2009.

The court also fined the convict, Babu, son of Kuddus of Lathimara village in the same upazila, Tk 1 lakh, reported UNB.

According to the prosecution, the convict violated the four-year girl, a resident of the same village, on March 13, 2009.

Victim’s mother Rahima Begum filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000 on the day.

Police submitted a charge sheet against Babu to the court after an investigation.

After examining the records and witnesses, Judge of Barguna Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Mohammad Julfiker Ali handed down the verdict.
