BNP leader arrested from Meherpur residence

Meherpur: BNP central executive committee member Masud Arun was arrested from his Meherpur residence in the early hours of Monday.
Police said Masud Aurun, a former lawmaker of Meherpur 1 constituency, was arrested as an arrest warrant was issued against him.
Meherpur assistant superintend of police Mustafizur Rahman said police filed two cases against the former lawmaker for his involvement in hartal, blockade, and logging trees during the anti-government movement of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami in 2013.
The high court had granted bail to Masud Aurn. However, the court issued arrest warrant against him as he did not appear before the lower court after the bail period expired.
