Comilla:  Mizanur Rahman Shohag, a friend of slain Comilla college student Sohagi Jahan Tonu’s brother, has been found 15 days after went missing.

Khaleda Akhter, elder sister of Sohag, said his uncle found Sohag standing on a road in Nazira Bazar Sakura filing station area near their house at about 6:00am while he went out for a morning walk.

Then the uncle brought Sohag home.

‘Sohag did not say anything about his disappearance,’ added Khaleda.

Shohag’s family members claimed he was picked up his Narayansar resident in Burichang upazila by the law enforcers in plain dress on 27 March.

His family also alleged that Shohag was abducted by a group of people in the guise of police.

Later, a general diary was filed in this connection on 30 March.

Sohag’s family members said after watching an interview of Tonu’s brother on a television channel, Sohag identified him as his friend.

‘Members of a law enforcement agency picked up his son as he (Sohag) protested against the incident,’ alleged Sohag’s father Nurul Islam.

The body of Tonu, aged around 19 years, a second year history student of Victoria College and a member of Victoria College Theatre, was recovered from Comilla’s Mynamati Cantonment area on the night of 20 March.

Police suspected that she had been raped before the murder.

The following day, victim’s father filed a case with Kotwali Model Police Station in connection with the incident.

Tonu was buried at a grave at Mirzapur village in Muradnagar upazila on 21 March.

The killing of the college student sparked widespread protests across the country.
