2 Shibir activists’ bullet-hit bodies recovered
Benapole: Police recovered bullet-riddled bodies of two Islami Chhatra Shibir activists, who had been picked up by a group of people impersonating detectives from Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah district last month, from Bohorampur cremation ground in sadar upazila on Wednesday morning, reported UNB.
The deceased are Abujar Gifari, son of Nur Islam, a resident of Chapali in Kaliganj municipality, and Shamim Mahmud, son of Ruhul Amin of Bakulia village of the municipality.
Local people spotted the bodies with bullet injuries lying on the bank of a pond at the cremation ground and informed police at about 7:30am, said Kotwali Police officer-in-charge Ilias Hossain.
A group of masked people posing as members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police abducted Shamim and Gifari on 18 and 25 March and respectively form Kotchandpur Bazar in Kaliganj, claimed their families.
Following their disappearance, family members of both the victims filed separate general diaries with the respective police stations and demanded their early rescue at a press conference.
