ACC arrests 4 including 2 bank officials
Dhaka: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday arrested four people, including two bank officials, in separate graft cases, reports UNB.
An ACC team, led by its director Mir Zainal Abedin Shibly, arrested executive officers of Sonali Bank Mosharraf Hossain and Zakir Hossain from the city’s Segunbagicha area at about 12:00pm, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
On 2 July 2015, the national anti-graft body filed a case against them with Motijheel Police Station for allegedly swindling out over Tk 4.14 crore from Sonali Bank’s local office during 2008-2010. Zakir Hossain was also made accused in another case filed on 30 September 2015, for allegedly plundering over Tk 6 crore from the bank.
Another team of the Commission’s Chittagong Divisional Office, led by its director Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan, arrested then LGED’s upazila engineer of Baghaichari upazila Ziaul Haque Dulal from Agrabad area of the port city at about 1:00pm.
On 8 March 2016, the ACC filed a case against Dulal (now engineer of Patiya upazila) for allegedly misappropriating public money of over Tk 6 lakh in implementing a local government project.
ACC assistant director Amirul Islam detained former civil surgeon of Barisal Altaf Uddin Ahmed from Segunbagicha area in a Tk 92-lakh graft case earlier filed by the anti-graft body.
