Cement clinker laden lighter vessel sinks near Hatiya coast

Chittagong: A cement clinker laden lighter vessel sank in Chittagong-Munshiganj waterway near Hatiya coast on Sunday morning, reports BSS.
Mostafizur Rahman, deputy-director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) said the Munshiganj bound vessel 'MV Titu-12 owned by Abul Khair group sank near Hatiya coast when it was hit by MV Suhi-3 moving towards Chittagong port at about 9:00am today.
All 13 crew of the vessel were, however, rescued by the staff of MV Suhi-3 soon after the incident, Mostafizur Rahman said adding that the accident did not affect movement of vessels in the channel.
