Dhaka: A sub-inspector (SI) of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police sustained bullet injuries as muggers opened fire on detectives during a drive in the city’s Tanti Bazar area on Tuesday, reports UNB.

Based on information gleaned from three muggers arrested in the morning, a special DB team conducted a drive in the Tanti Bazar area at about 12:45pm to arrest their cohorts, said DB Deputy Commissioner (East) Mahbubul Alam.

Sensing the presence of the detectives, thugs opened fire on them and fled the scene that left SI Mahbub Alam injured.

With bullet wounds to the right leg, the SI was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
