Police rescue abducted businessman, arrest 3 in M'singh

Mymensingh: Detective branch of police rescued a businessman and arrested his three alleged abductors including a woman, from Char Adhpakhia under Muktagacha upazila of Mymensingh on Wednesday, reports BSS.
Officer-in-Charge of DB police, Mymensingh, Imarat Hossain Gazi said that one of the arrestee, a garment businessman, was learnt to have abducted businessman Momin.
Momin, owner of Uday Sweater at Yeasin Market of Uttra in Dhaka, came to Mymensingh with a Tabligh Jammat group on 13 April and was staying at a mosque at the police line in the town.
Ripon called Momin out of the mosque on Monday noon and invited him to hishouse in Muktagacha.
When Momin came out, the abductors took him to Ripon's house at Char Adhpakhia and allegedly confined him.
The gang later demanded Tk two lakh as ransom of Momin's family members for his safe release in the evening of the same day.
Being informed by family members, other tabligh members of the group informed the police about the matter the same day. Detective branch of police could trace the area where the abductors were staying. A team led by Sub-Inspector Mofizul Islam raided Char Adhpakhia village at about 4.30am today and rescued Momin, found blind folded and hands and feet tied with ropes.
The alleged abductors were arrested by DB police from the spot.
Momin lodged a case with Kotwali Police Station against eight persons including the three arrested, today.
They were produced before a court in Mymensingh this afternoon and the court sent them to jail.
The DB OC said drives are going on to arrest the other accused.
