3 to be quizzed over Billal murder
Dhaka: A court on Wednesday granted police three days to interrogate three people arrested in connection with the killing of Billal Hossain, a muazzin of a mosque at Islampur in the Old Town of Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sazzadur Rahman passed the order when officer-in-charge (operation) of Kotwali Police, also the investigation officer of the case, placed three accused before the court and sought seven days to question each of the arrestees.
The suspects are Habibur Rahman alias Habibullah, caretaker of the mosque and the victim’s assistants Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain and Tofazzal Hossain.
Earlier, police arrested four people from different parts of the country on Tuesday for their suspected link to the killing.
Of the arrestees, Sarwar Halim was not produced before the court.
On April 4, Billal Hossain, in his mid-fifties, muazzin of ‘Jabbar Khan Jam-e-Masjid’, was found stabbed dead inside the mosque in Islampur area in Dhaka.
