HC regular bench to hear Khaleda’s plea
Dhaka: A vacation bench of the High Court on Thursday sent two petitions submitted by BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for annulling lower court orders in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case to regular bench for hearing.
The vacation bench comprising Justice Md Miftah Uddin Choudhury and Justice Khizir Ahmed Choudhury passed the order.
‘The vacation bench sent the matters to the regular bench. Now a regular bench will hear the matters after the end of ongoing vacation,’ said advocate Khurshid Alam Khan, counsel for the complainant Anti‑Corruption Commission (ACC).
Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar the Special Judges’ Court-3 on April 17 rejected BNP chief’s two pleas to record deposition and cross examine the investigation officer of the case, afresh. Khaleda filed two pleas with the High Court against the orders, on April 19.
ACC filed Zia Charitable Trust corruption case with the Tejgaon police on 8 August 2010, against five including Khaleda Zia on charge of misappropriating money in the name of the trust.
