Four cops injured as family of fugitive attack them during raid
Chittagong: Four policemen were injured in an attack by family members of an accused in Keranibazar village of Chittagong’s Boalkhali upazila early on Thursday, according to a UNB report.
The injured policemen- Abul Khayer, a sub-inspector, and three constables Bulbul Sikder, Abul Hossain and Abdul Gafur of Boalkhali police- were on a drive to arrest fugitive Daulat Mia from his house in the village.
Salah Uddin Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of the Boalkhali police, said the police team were conducting the drive in the area around 2:30am.
Daulat’s family members at that point swooped on the four policemen after they entered the house. Although to no avail, they did inflict injuries that needed treatment at a local hospital.
However, police did also manage to arrest Daulat.
The injured were admitted at Boalkhali Upazila Health Complex.
