Student drowns in Panchagarh
Panchagarh: A student who came to Panchagarh on a chilla (retreat) of Tabligh Jamaat after appearing at the recently held SSC examination drowned in the Chawai River on Friday, reports UNB.
Quoting locals, police said Mehedi Hasan Raju, 16, son of army member Mohsin Ali of Dhaka Cantonment, came to a mosque in Sadar upazila along with friends on a retreat after completing his exam.
He went to the river along with them to take their bath before Juma prayers.
However, Mehedi drowned in the river.
His friends rescued him. However, he died on the way to Sadar Hospital.
