Dhaka: A police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed as truck hit him at Khilkhet area of Dhaka in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased is Al Amin, 32.

Khilkhet police officer-in-charge Mohammad Nazrul Islam said a sand-laden truck hit Al Amin while he was standing by the road at Khilkhet Bazar at about 3:00am. The truck also hit a police car and left a constable, Shahjahan, 36, injured.

Duty police members took Al Amin to Kurmitola General Hospital immediately after the accident. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated, where Al Amin breathed his last at about 4:00am.

The OC said the driver and driver’s assistant were held with the truck in this connection.
Shahjahan was also shifted to DMCH from Kurmitola General Hospital.
