Dhaka: Denouncing the killing of Rajshahi University professor AFM Rezaul Karim, BNP on Sunday alleged that murder incidents are taking place one after another as justice has got completely disappeared from the country.

In a statement, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also said, ‘The lives of the teachers of the highest educational institutions are now being taken away by killers. The criminals are killing teachers one after another as the mysteries behind the murder incidents taken place in the university was not unearthed. Above all there’s the impunity of killers.’

He alleged that the country is now hit by violence and terrorism as the incidents of killing, enforced disappearance, abduction, secret killing and extrajudicial killing have marked a rise due to the use of state machinery for suppressing opposition.

The BNP leader said people’s basic and human rights and security of their lives and property are now at stake due to the growing criminal activities by the ruling party men.

Fakhrul observed that people are getting scared as international militant outfits are taking now responsibility for dreadful and sensational murder incidents of Bangladesh.

‘But, there’s no effort in sight to eliminate the killers. The government is only trying to shirk its responsibility by shifting its failure to others. The criminals are getting encouraged due to the misdeeds by the voter-less regime. In fact, the country’s is now in dangerous anarchy,’ he alleged.

The BNP secretary general demanded the government identify the killers involved in professor Rezaul Karim’s murder and mete out exemplary punishment to them.

A group of miscreants swooped on Rezaul Karim, a professor of English Department of the university, on Saturday morning near his residence and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.
