Temperature may go up further as poor rainfall predicted
Dhaka: The country is suffering from severe heat as cloudy but dry weather prevails. Severe to mild heat wave is sweeping over the country and, meteorologists say, this condition will continue for weeks.
On Sunday the mercury hit 41 degrees Celsius in Jessore and the highest temperature in Dhaka was recorded 39 degrees Celsius.
Severe heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Faridpur, Rajshahi, Mongla, Satkhira, Jessore and Chuadanga. Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur and Barisal divisions and rest part of the Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Khulna divisions and the regions of Chandpur, Noakhali and Srimangal districts and it may continue for weeks.
Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over the Sylhet and Chittagong divisions and at one or two places over the Barisal division with hails at isolated places on Monday.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, the Meteorology Office said.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The sun sets in the capital tomorrow at 6:25pm and rises on Tuesday at 5:28am.
The country’s highest temperature, 41.0 degrees Celsius, was recorded on Sunday in Jessore and the lowest, 22.5 degrees, in Rangpur.
