Mahmudur Rahman on 5-day interrogation
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Monday placed Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman on a five-day interrogation in a case filed in connection with a plot to ‘abduct and kill’ Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MD Golam Nabi passed the order after hearing a petition filed by DB over showing Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman arrested in the case.
However, senior assistant commissioner of the detective branch (DB) Hasan Arafat, also investigation officer of the case, sought a 10-day interrogation for Mahmudur.
Earlier, police produced Mahmudur Rahman, now in jail in different cases, before the court at about 12:30pm.
On April 18, a court fixed April 25 for hearing a petition filed by the DB over showing Mahmudur Rahman arrested in the case.
Police arrested Mahmudur rom his Karwan Bazar office on April 11, 2013.
Besides, a court on Friday put senior journalist Shafik Rehman on a fresh five-day remand for further interrogation in the case over the alleged plot to abduct and kill Joy.
