2 cases filed over Kalabagan double murder
Dhaka: Two separate cases have been filed in connection with the killing of two people, including a USAID staff, in the capital’s Kalabagan area on Monday evening.
The Kalabagan police sub-inspector Mahmudul Hasan said the two cases, including one for killing and another under the Arms Act, were filed with the police station against around six unnamed people.
Minhaz Mamun Emon, elder brother of the deceased, Xulhaz Mannan, the protocol officer of former US ambassador Dan Mozena, filed the murder case while Assistant Sub-Inspector Shamim filed the other case in connection with the seizure of two firearms from the spot, report UNB.
When a gang of miscreants after completing the killing mission was leaving the scene, a group of locals chased them off and, joined by a team of police on petrol nearby, managed to catch one of the gang members who stabbed ASI Momtaz Uddin.

Barely two days into the murder of a Rajshahi University teacher in the same style, USAID staff Xulhaz Mannan, aged 35 years, and his friend Tanoy, believed to be in his 36, an activist of theater group Loknatya Dal, were hacked to death at an apartment in Kalabagan area on Monday evening.
The criminals also stabbed Parvez Mollah, a guard of the building, leaving him injured.
He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Earlier on 23 April, Professor Rezaul Karim, of the Rajshahi University Department of English, was hacked to death by miscreants in Rajshahi city’s Shalbagan area.
