Dhaka: Strongly denouncing the recent killings, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said she does not want such incidents to happen anymore in the country.

‘Law enforcement agencies have been working to this end …I hope they’ll be able to hunt down the criminals after investigations,’ she said.

Sheikh Hasina said this in her introductory remarks while presiding over the 4th meeting of the Fast Track Project Monitoring committee held at her office.

PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed journalists after the meeting.

The Prime Minister alleged those who had earlier burnt and killed people to death in the name of movement are now engaged in such killings.  ‘Such killings are being carried out in a planned way to destabilise the country targeting people, including Imams and priests,’ she said urging people to remain alert to this end.

Hasina further alleged that such killers in the name of Islam start killing people. ‘These people who are carrying out such killings do not believe in any religion and boundary. The militants have no religion and boundary.’

Earlier on Monday night, two people, including USAID staff Xulhaz Mannan, and his friend Mahbub Tanoy, were hacked to death in their apartment at Kalabagan.

Assailants identifying themselves as courier service deliverymen entered the flat and hacked Xulhaz, and Tanoy.

Referring to the deaths of two Bangladeshi citizens in their San Jose home in California, Hasina said the US government would investigate the matter and hunt down those involved in the alleged killings.

Earlier on 24 April, a Bangladeshi couple—Golam Rabbi and his wife Shamima Rabbi—was found dead at their home at San Jose, California.

Sheikh Hasina also strongly denounced the recent killings of eight people of a family in Ohio.
